How I Came To Play This Game
Terrarium Dome
The story how I got this game involves a long chase to find a copy in stores. This was before I bought things on the internet, so I had to find a store that had a copy of the game. However, none of the GameStop stores or Slackers stores had any. Even the smaller private owned game trading shops didn't have it. Then came a day where I went to the St. Louis Mills Mall with may brother because he was getting a game at the GameStop there. The GameStop was the closest one to our house that had the game. We found a new store called V-Stock. The label said it dealed in Movies, Video Games, Music, Comics, Books, Trading Cards, and even Toys. The place had everything that interested me (minus the Music). My little brother decided to buy Final Fantasy X there instead of his planned game. I soon found out that there was a V-Stock in the closer Mid Rivers Mall too. I finally found a copy of Resident Evil Outbreak File #2. I bought it right on the spot.
STORY
The story of Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 follows the original story laid down by Resident Evil 2 and 3, and like it's predecessor, is split into several chapters, or levels, called scenarios. Each scenario happens during the outbreak and stars one canon protagonist. The other characters that appear in each scenario as well as the order in which the scenarios happen is up to the players to decide for themselves.
Outbreak Revisited
This is not a real scenario, but is a training mode to help new players get used to the controls and the way the game works. It goes through the same area as the first scenario of the first game.
Wild Things
Cindy is the canon protagonist.
Cindy finds a note on a sign that states a evacuation helicopter is coming. The pick up area is on the other side of the Raccoon Zoo. She and a group of survivors try to enter the zoo from the back but it is locked. They go into the nearby Elephant Restaurant and find a note stating the code is written on the back of the lock. They find the code and open the gate, then enter the zoo. Once inside the zoo, they are soon attacked by a mutated elephant known as Titan. Titan used to be the zoo's mascot elephant named Oscar, but it was infected with the T-Virus and mutated to be bigger and stronger. They run to a nearby building and find the management office there. there they meet a zookeeper named Lloyd. He tells them they need to turn on the power, but they need a code. They find a key and use it to get into the elephant stage. There, they find a wounded zookeeper named Patrick. Patrick was just lonely and was happy to see other people still alive. They move on and go through the Terrarium Dome and through a swampy area home to an alligator named Gnaw. They kill the gator and move on where they're attacked by hyenas. They find a note with the code in it and another zookeeper named Austin. He tells them to let the other zookeepers know he's alright. They go back to the management office, turn the power on, and give the message to Lloyd. Having enough with the Titan, and the power now on, the survivors go to the elephant stage and trap the Titan inside. They also give the message from Austin to Patrick. They find a key in the general managers office and use it to get into the lion area. Here they are attacked by zombie lionesses, or Ferals. They kill them and go into a warehouse. They kill more Ferals and go outside on the other side of the building, climb down, and head toward the train station. They place two plates into lion statues to unlock the gate and head for the train. A male lion called Stalker attacks them. The lion used to be a main attraction named Max. They kill it, board the train, and ride it out of the zoo, but the helicopter that was supposed to pick them up crashed. Leaving the survivors still stranded in the city.

Underbelly
Jim is the canon protagonist.
Jim and a bunch of survivors are out in the open in the streets. They retreat to the South Raccoon Street Station. They continue down underground and are attacked by zombies. Jim was currently working here, so he used his keys to open to open the doors to the employee areas. They open a locker with a passcode they got from a note they found. In the locker was a key to the lower floor. They went there and turned the power back on. When they got back up, a subway train came and crashed into the blockage up ahead, causing a massive fire. So the survivors went to turn on the sprinkler system. They had to reroute the power to open a door to reach some duct tape. They used the tap to patch a broken pipe and used a valve handle to send water through them. The sprinkler system turned on and put out the fire. When they got back to the subway tunnels, they were attacked by giant fleas known as Mega Bites. They placed two emblems into the gate to a train to disconnect it from the rest of them. Just when they were going to use it to escape, an arm crashed through the window and grabbed one of the survivors. The rest of the went to save them, the kidnapper ending up to be a the leader of the giant fleas known as Giga Bite. They killed it, rescued the captured survivor, and made it back to the train just as it left the station. There was a roadblock not far from there, so the train didn't take them far.

Flashback
Alyssa is the canon protagonist.
Alyssa and some other survivors try to escape the city through the Arklay Mountains. They hide inside a cabin in the woods for a while, when an old man named Al finds them. He tells them that he can lead them through the woods to escape the city. The group follows him, getting attacked by Green Zombies, Zombies with plant parasites growing in them, all the way. It ends up that Al was leading them to an old abandoned hospital. The bridge they crossed to get there collapses, so they can't go back. The whole time they are at the hospital, Alyssa has random flashbacks to a previous incident that happened here years ago. They enter the hospital only to be attacked by a guy with a black cloak over his head and an axe known as the Axe Man. The Axe Man is actually Al. The Axe Man would follow the survivors throughout the hospital, trying to kill them. The survivors find notes that tell them they can destroy plants blocking the paths with a green chemical. They get some of the chemical and use it to kill all of the large plant parts. After that, they find the way out, but vines grow all over the door, blocking the way. So the survivors go to the main source of the plant and destroy it, killing all the vines in the building for good. However, the plant was the only reason the building was standing at all, and the building began to fall apart. The survivors tried to escape but were confronted one last time by the Axe Man. They defeated him, he ran away, and the survivors escaped out the back door. It ended up that Al believed the plant was his wife, as it sprouted from her coffin. He took up the job of the Axe Man to slaughter people to feed the carnivorous plant. After the plants defeat, it released his wife's old corpse. Al was last seen holding his dead wife just as a piece of the ceiling above them fell and crushed them.

Desperate Times
Kevin is the canon protagonist.
Kevin and a few other survivors run into the Raccoon City Police Department for safety, but even that place is a death trap. Police Officers Kevin, Aaron, Fred, Rita, and Marvin make a plan to escape. They would send Rita through a crawlspace leading outside and she would come back with help. However, the crawlspace was blocked off. They needed to collect five plates; Ruby Plate, Sapphire Plate, Emerald Plate, Onyx Plate, and Amethyst Plate. Aaron guarded the emergency stairwell, Fred guarded the rooftop stairwell, while Kevin and the other survivors went to find the plates. All were attacked by Zombies, Lickers, Cerberus, Crows, and had to deal with gas alarms going off. After all the plates were found, they were placed together in the slot in front of the statue of the front lobby, which caused the statue to rise, revealing the crawlspace. Rita crawled through. She contacted Marvin once she was outside and went for help. Soon after, the Zombies from outside started to break in. Police Officers Aaron, Fred, and also the K-9 unit officer Tony were all killed. Marvin called all of the remaining survivors to meet up at the front of the RPD for the final stand against the Zombies while they waited for the help to arrive. They fought together against hordes of Zombies until finally, Rita arrived in a van driven by fellow Police Officer Harry. Kevin and the rest of the group get into the van except for Marvin, who tells them to go without him. Seeing Marvin surrounded by Zombies, Rita didn't want to leave him. However, Harry got spooked by the incoming Zombies and drove away. Kevin and the other survivors calmed Rita down. Back at the RPD, it is revealed that Marvin survived and killed all of the Zombies in the front lobby. He states "I'm not dead yet", and then enters the room he is found in Resident Evil 2 and 3. Later, the van that Kevin and the survivors are in passes the police car Leon and Claire are in going the RPD in the opposite direction.

End of the Road
David is the canon protagonist.
David succeeds in saving an Umbrella employee named Carter from Zombies inside the Raccoon City Headquarters. Another Umbrella employee name d Linda comes in and is almost killed by David thinking she was a zombie, but Carter was able to stop him in time. Some other survivors come in soon after. Carter and Linda are about to go back to their helicopter and offer the others to come with them when an alarm goes off, closing a gate leading to the way out. Carter and Linda go to find out what it was while David and the others search the area for a key. They find it, and also the cause of the alarms. Hunter Rs had escaped from their cages and are running amok in the complex. They use the key to go forward and use a key card to open the routes to a large chamber where several Hunter Rs are kept at bay behind a security fence. They find Carter trying to awaken a Tyrant to fight the Hunters. The survivors get a M.O. Disk for him and he used it to activate the Tyrant. This Tyrant is completely controlled by Carter and starts running around the laboratory, killing all of the Hunters it sees. The survivors follow Linda and Carter safely to the back exit, but the Tyrant breaks free of its controls, and attacks them. Linda gets knocked off the balcony and Carter is killed, dropping the detonator switch to kill the Tyrant below as well. The survivors, unable to open the door without the employees' help take their key card and use it to go another route. They took an elevator down to the sewers below. Here, they encountered the Tyrant again. They worked together and defeated it. Then they went all through the sewers to find a Valve Handle. They also find Linda and wake her up, but a flood comes and washes her away along with some of the survivors. After finding it, they used it to drop a ladder for them to climb back up to the surface. Meanwhile, the washed away survivors and Linda appear back in the sewers from the original Outbreak scenario and climb up in front of the Apple Inn. A UBCS mercenary named Arnold mistakes them for Zombies and tries to snipe them from a high ledge. Linda is severely wounded and crawls into the Apple Inn. The survivors dodge his shots and meet back up with David and the other survivors above the sewers. The Tyrant awakens and mutates into the Tyrant-R. Once again, the survivors work together to beat the Tyrant. They also run into Rodriguez, the helicopter pilot waiting for Linda to return. They go back for Linda, but Rodriguez feels if he doesn't leave now nobody would survive, so he leaves without them. Meanwhile, Arnold and Tommy, an Umbrella Executive, argue on whether they should bail their mission or continue it. Tommy ends up firing a RPG at the helicopter. Rodriguez barely dodges it, but the force is to much and the crate that the chopper was carrying falls off. It cracks open on the highway and a large blob creature comes out consumes a squad of UBCS mercenaries. Meanwhile, the survivors and Linda climb to the top of a building, battling Zombies the whole way to reach the highway. They hop over to the highway and find the empty crate. The Tyrant-R awakens again and climbs up after them, only to have the blob creature come up from underneath it, consuming it. The blob creature, known as Nyx, absorbs organic matter into itself and consumes it. The group fights off the beast with any weapon they could scrap up from nearby army cars or just lying around. By shooting it in its core, they eventually defeated it. They helped Linda cross over and they all got into a army car and escaped the city. They meet up with other survivors along with Rodriguez and watch the missiles destroy Raccoon City.

Bonus Scenarios
These scenarios are not canon. They use enemies and characters from the main game in mini-games such as Elimination, where you fight a variety of enemies, the object of the game is to kill them all. Showdown is the same thing, but you fight several bosses in a row, trying to survive and defeat them all.
Elimination 1
There is a total of 36 enemies. They include Zombies, Cerberus, Hornbills, a Leech, and a Crow. Zombie versions of the eight main characters also appear.
Elimination 2
There is a total of 33 enemies. They include Zombies, Green Zombies, Killer Hornets, Scissor Tails, an Alligator, Web Spinners, and Mega Bites.
Elimination 3
There is a total of 36 enemies. They include Hunter Rs, Hunter γs, Ferals, and Hyenas.
Showdown 1
All of the bosses from File #1 are fought here. This includes the G-Adult, Leech Queen, Suspended, Thanatos, and Thanatos-R. Thanatos-R is made significantly stronger in this mode.
Showdown 2
All of the bosses from File #2, save for the giant plant, are fought here. This includes the Titan, Stalker (with Ferals), Giga Bite, Tyrant-R, and Nyx.
Showdown 3
All of the bosses from both games, save for the giant plant, are fought here. This includes G-Adult, Leech Queen, Suspended, Thanatos, Thanatos-R, Titan, Stalker (with Ferals), Giga Bite, Tyrant-R, and Nyx. In addition, after all of the bosses are defeated, the survivors will fight two Tyrants. After beating them, an exclusive boss called Tyrant C will be dropped in.

Pros And Cons
Story
Attack of the giant fleas
There really isn't much to say about the story other than "it's Resident Evil". This game is not really a sequel but an expansion to the first one. Meaning that Files #1 and #2 are really just one game. They were made before companies could patch games though, so they were released on separate disks.
Characters
The Eight Characters
The characters are the same as the other game. Eight survivors that eventually escape the city alive. There has been absolutely no change in that matter.
Gameplay
Gnaw the alligator
The gameplay is basically the exact same thing with some improvements. Multiple of the same type of character can be online at the same time, characters can pick up items while crawling, Alyssa and Kevin can potshot even if they're in the danger status, you can move while firing, if you hold the L1 and R1 buttons down your character will aim and follow the enemy as it moves, an apology ad-lib can be done now, new second special items for all characters, Alyssa jumps backward instead of a step backward, Yoko can't tackle anymore and pushes instead, Cindy can make characters duck along with her while she's holding someone, Kevin has an elbow jab at the end of his tackle that can knock down enemies, George's special tackle can now knock enemies over, Jim can swing melee weapons rapidly but causes him to pause to catch his breath, David has a fourth swing to his knife combo and has a two knife combo for up and down attacks, Mark's big swing takes less time to charge and he can do it in all directions now. One bad thing though is the fact that for normal ad-libs using the ad-lib button, it doesn't have voice acting. This makes it harder to tell you friends that you are bleeding or are poisoned. Another really annoying thing is the fact that the functions of the Triangle and Square buttons have swapped from the first game. Triangle now ad-libs and Square opens the map. Also, they gave the Zombies the sprint ability they had in Resident Evil 3, which was kind of dumb. Another thing I absolutely hate is the gas alarms that go off during the Desperate Times scenario. Those weren't there in Resident Evil 2. Why did they put those there? The scenario would have been fine without them. I was really excited to be able to see the RPD again after such a long time, but the gas alarms ruined it for me.
Graphics
The Axe Man attacks
The graphics look exactly the same as they did in the first one. However, the load times are shorter. I guess that they found ways to make the graphics use up less memory so that it can be loaded quicker.
Music
Once again, I know I said that there wouldn't be a music section, but the Main Theme for this game is still awesome!
Releases
Box Art
Being a more modern game, it has only been released for the Playstation 2. The Japan release date was September 9, 2004. The United States release date was April 26, 2005. The PAL release date was August 26, 2005.
My Rating
I give this game a 10/10. This game fixed most of the annoying things of the first one to make the game more fluent.
