How I Came To Play This Game
Geminiman Stage
A long time ago I bought the Megaman Anniversary Collection for the Gamecube which included the first eight Megaman games and two arcade games.
Story
In the twenty-first century, the world enjoys a brief period of peace thanks to the efforts of the super robot Mega Man. Dr. Wily claims he is a changed man, reforming and teaming up with Dr. Light to develop a giant "peace-keeping" robot named Gamma. It was the lifelong dream of Dr. Light to create a giant robot to protect and serve world peace. With their research almost complete, all that remained was to combine eight Energy Elements that were scattered about uncharted planets and bestow them to Gamma. For some reason, the newest Robot Masters created by both doctors to mine the energy elements suddenly have gone crazy. Dr. Light needs the eight Energy Elements that the robots are protecting for the creation of Gamma, thus, when Mega Man learns about the incident, he and Rush set out for the uncharted planets to stop the robots and retrieve the energy elements. Along his quest, Mega Man meets the mysterious Proto Man (under the alias of Break Man). Unknown to Mega Man, Proto Man is his brother, and he appears at times to challenge or help Mega Man. When Mega Man returns to Dr. Light's Laboratory, he discovers Dr. Wily has stolen Gamma on August 28 after receiving the last energy element to challenge Mega Man and Dr. Light once again, planning to use Gamma to rule the world. Mega Man goes to the Wily Castle to stop Wily. After Mega Man succeeds in stopping Wily and Gamma in the final fight, the Wily Castle begins to collapse and both Mega Man and Dr. Wily are buried by debris. Proto Man arrives on time to save Mega Man, but it appears that it is too late for Dr. Wily and he meets his end. However, Wily's saucer is visible far in the distance during the ending sequence, hinting that he survived.
Robot Masters

Review
Once again, the same gameplay mechanics from the first two are used. TYhis game added the slide move. By pressing down and the jump button you could make Megaman slide through small spaces or to dodge enemies. The loading times for each screen were faster and Megaman could climb ladders faster. The game also had other stages before the Wily Castle. You had to fight eight robots on four of the previous boss stages in order to get to the castle. These robots were called Doc Robots and had the powers of the bosses from Megaman 2. This ones were insanely hard, they did tons of damage if you came in contact with them and it was harder to find their weaknesses with the weapons of Megaman 3. Another cool feature is Megaman's dog Rush. He has the ability to give Megaman a boost to higher ledges (Rush Coil), turn into a submarine (Rush Marine), or even let Megaman ride him like a jet board (Rush Jet). A huge member of the Megaman cast named Protoman was also added. I thought it was cool how Protoman saved him at the end of the game, and how Megaman went for a walk, thinking about how he had a newfound brother. One thing I don't like about Megaman 3 was that it used different music when starting a stage and completing a stage.
Releases
Megaman 3 was first released for the NES in 1990. Then, a remake was released in the compilation for the Sega Genesis called Megaman: The Wily Wars in 1994. Then in 1999, another remake was released in another compilation called Rockman Complete Works for the Playstation in Japan only. Another compilation, the Megaman Anniversery Collection, was released for the Gamecube and Playstation 2 in 2004, with an Xbox version released in 2005. It was released for Mobile Phones in 2004, and for Wii Virtual Console in 2008.
My Rating
I give this game a 9/10. This game was a cool game like the two before it, but I don't like it as much because it was insanely hard.
