How I Came To Play This Game
Magmaman Stage
I was exited when I finally got an Xbox 360, because that meant I would be able to play the latest two Megaman games. I saw that Megaman 9 and 10 were made like the older ones for the NES, so I wondered what making and old style game in modern times would end up like. Would it work out, or would it be a failure? I feel that they did a good job.
Story
It is the year 20XX. Since Dr. Wily's last defeat, the Blue Bomber has seen peace return. Just when people forgot all about Dr. Wily, robots all over the world began going crazy. It soon became apparent that these robots were those created by Dr. Light. As phone calls came pouring in to Light Labs, Dr. Wily interrupted all television programs to announce that these robotic riots were not his doing. He then continued to show video evidence that proved Dr. Light's involvement in the recent violent outbreaks. To make matters worse, Wily gave the account number to his personal bank account and announced that he would accept donations to build his own robot army to counter that of Light's. Mega Man quickly volunteered to clear Light's name and was sent out to investigate the source of the problem. Before long, the police came to Light Labs to arrest the good doctor, but Light went along quietly to prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Mega Man went after the Robot Masters and, after he defeated a few of them, discovered that they were scheduled to be decommissioned and sent to the junkyard because they had reached the expiration date assigned to them by the government. Once the final Robot Master had been taken down, Mega Man brought back one of the robot's internal memory units to Auto for investigation. As it turned out, Dr. Wily had reprogrammed the robots, who were scheduled for demolition, to rise up against their human masters rather than be destroyed. All the robots wanted to do was have a purpose, and they certainly did not want to be sent to the scrap heap. After they had viewed the video, Dr. Wily burst into their lab and stole the memory circuit and then withdrew to his newly constructed Skull Castle. Mega Man made his way through the fortress, fighting powerful robots built with the money Wily received from donations from those concerned with the robot uprisings. In the end, Mega Man defeated Wily once again, and showed him footage of every single defeat he had dealt Wily. Although Wily seemed contrite and apologetic, he tricked Mega Man into thinking that Dr. Light was, in fact, imprisoned in a jail cell in the next room. Although Proto Man warned him that it was a trap, Mega Man went to investigate the cell and was electrocuted by the Dr.Light decoy that was in the cell instead. As Wily's lab self-destructed, Proto Man returned and teleported Mega Man out of the lab just in time. In the end, Light was released from prison. He then found useful purposes for all of the Robot Masters he had designed, which had reached their expiration dates. Although the ending states that Dr. Wily was nowhere to be found after the destruction of his base, the credits show Concrete Man chasing him.

Review
After playing the game and getting all of the achievements for it, I say that this game is really good. The game plays a lot like the first two Megaman games due to the fact they took away the Slide and the Charge Shot. Not only did they make the gameplay almost exactly like the older games, the nostalgia factor is there as well. It was common for similar enemies to continue to appear, which still happens in the game. Also the game reuses things from past stages such as the bubble platforms in Splash Woman's stage that were take from Megaman 5 from Waveman's stage. Even some of the music from Megaman 2 has been borrowed. Although I see this game as a great one now, when I first tried playing it, I had the opposite. These bosses and stages were a little harder to figure out the patterns of than the other bosses. Also the enemies did way too much damage upon contact. At least they included a shop where you could buy E-Tanks and an upgrade to your defense to take half damage. Why would they make you start out in a bad condition? Why not just not have the armor upgrade and just have you take regular damage? One annoying thing is that they took out Megaman's magic toe. You used to be able to stand on the edge of a platform with the very tip of your toe. Now, the point at which you fall is closer to the center of the foot. This can make gamers like me who are used to the older games have a hard time making accurate jumps from the edge of a platform. After you beat the eight bosses, you go through a Wily Castle with four stages. Then you fight three bosses on the first stage, rematch the eight bosses in the fourth stage, and finish by fighting Wily Machine No.9 and a Wily Capsule. This is all standard. Both the Wily Machine and Wily Capsule are easier to fight than in the previous three games. One thing I enjoyed was when Megaman explained all of the times Wily had begged for mercy before. I remember every single one of those images, all of them are accurate in the graphics except for Megaman 7, 8, & Bass, which are redone in 8-bit. The ending was satisfying too because the bosses didn't die, they were innocent anyway, and Dr. Light found new jobs for them to do. This game is the first in the main series to have DLC. The DLC includes an Endless Attack Mode, a Special Stage where you can fight a boss called Fakeman, two increased difficulties, and the ability to play as Protoman in the main game. Protoman is cool because he can slide and has a Charge Shot, but he takes more damage and can only fire two shots at a time. This was the first game in the Classic Series to have a female boss, Splash Woman.

My Rating
I give this game a 9/10. They did a really good job making this game like the older ones, but it was a bit too hard.
